The European Commission has just published a report on EMAS and the\u00a0circular economy<\/u><\/b><\/a>. With it, the Commission wants to address the urgent\u00a0need to increase resource efficiency<\/b>\u00a0and highlight the\u00a0contribution of EMAS organisations to the circular economy<\/b>.<\/p>\n A circular economy keeps the value of products, materials and resources in the economy for as long as possible and eliminates waste.<\/b><\/p>\n In evaluating, reporting on, and improving their environmental performance, organisations that have implemented EMAS have already taken an important first step towards achieving a circular economy<\/p>\n The report is a\u00a0guidance document for EMAS organisations<\/b>\u00a0that want to participate in the circular economy and\u00a0for other organisations<\/b>\u00a0that would like to\u00a0use EMAS in their circular economy strategy<\/b>. It also targets\u00a0authorities<\/b>\u00a0committed to making their\u00a0economic regions more circular<\/b>\u00a0by highlighting\u00a0how EMAS can contribute to their objectives<\/b>, thus also fostering more support for EMAS.<\/p>\n The report highlights\u00a0five best practices for getting started<\/b>\u00a0and provides\u00a0examples of leading EMAS organisations<\/b>.<\/p>\n Furthermore the report features\u00a0three case studies<\/b>\u00a0illustrating the\u00a0measures that EMAS organisations can put in place to become more circular<\/b>.
